Report design for the World Bank: a layout based on patterns inspired by some typical African fabrics, for a flagship report reach in content and appeal.
The World Bank’s Africa Region Gender Innovation Lab, produced the precious content for this regional flagship report on women and entrepreneurship in Africa, “Profiting from Parity: Unlocking the Potential of Women’s Businesses in Africa”, with the purpose of updating previous regional and cross-regional analyses on the gender differences in entrepreneurship participation and performance, and examine and incorporate new data collected from impact evaluations and other research studies.
In order to make it more appealing for policy makers, they asked me to design the layout taking into account the topic and the context. I developed a few tests, until the team agreed on this one: a bold layout, based on patterns inspired by some typical African fabrics. The result is a layout different than usual but still readable and enjoyable by the target audience, thanks also to the beautiful photos by Stephan Gladieu.
